Sterile Iodoform Packing Strip

Keeping a Wound Open on Purpose, Not by Accident

Some wounds shouldn't close at the surface before the deeper tissue has had a chance to heal and drain, and packing strips exist to keep that space open deliberately. The iodoform component adds mild antiseptic action on top of the physical packing function, which is useful in wounds with ongoing risk of contamination. This is a sterile product for direct wound-cavity use, distinct from the plain sterile packing strip stocked alongside it – the choice between the two usually comes down to whether the added antiseptic action is wanted for a given case.
