A quick wipe with a 70% isopropyl pad is one of the most repeated motions in a treatment area – before an injection, before accessing an injection port, before a vaccine site – and it works best when there's a box open on every cart rather than one shared bottle across the building. The medium pad size handles most injection and port-access sites without excess product.
Alcohol prep pads don't get much thought individually, but multiply the number of injections, blood draws, and IV port accesses in a single day and they're doing more disinfection work than almost anything else on the cart. Having them boxed and portable means staff aren't walking back to a central supply station between patients.
In a teaching environment, these are also where students first build the habit of prepping before every access point – a habit that's easier to instill with pads sitting right at the practice station than with a shared bottle passed around a classroom.
