One Set, Two Spikes, So a Transfusion Line Never Has to Break

The Y-type design gives a transfusion line two separate spike ports feeding into a single shared tubing run – one for the blood product, one for saline – so a patient can be flushed before, during, or after a transfusion without disconnecting and reconnecting anything at the access site. That's a meaningful safety feature on a real transfusion, where line integrity matters and repeated disconnections raise contamination risk. This is a real clinical transfusion set, used on patients actually receiving blood or blood component therapy, not a training-only item, and it's built to run through ICU Medical's Plum-family pumps and CLAVE port system specifically. Vet tech and vet med programs teaching transfusion medicine can also use it to demonstrate proper Y-set setup and priming before students handle a live transfusion.
