The ICU Medical Plum A+ creates a different infusion exercise than a basic single-channel pump. Its infusion architecture gives instructors room to build veterinary scenarios around primary and secondary therapies, challenging learners to understand how each infusion fits into the patient’s treatment plan before they begin programming.

Start with the animal, not the pump. Patient weight, fluid requirements, prescribed therapy, and timing can determine what learners need to calculate and how they approach the setup. As the scenario changes, a second simulated therapy can be added, adjusted, or stopped – requiring students to keep the lines, rates, and purpose of each infusion straight.

That makes the Plum A+ useful for veterinary anesthesia, hospitalization, emergency, and critical-care simulations where infusion management is only one part of a larger case. Students have to manage the equipment while continuing to follow what is happening with the simulated patient.
