Isolated canine leg models put repetitions first — no full manikin setup between attempts, just vein, angle, and flash recognition, over and over. Built specifically for venipuncture and IV catheter placement practice in a vet tech skills lab.
IV placement improves almost entirely through volume of attempts, and pulling out a full-body manikin every time a student wants another rep adds friction that cuts down how many attempts actually fit into a session. A dedicated leg model removes that friction.
It won't teach the judgment that comes with restraining and positioning a real, moving patient, but for the specific mechanical skill of catheter placement, it gets more reps into a limited lab session than a full manikin allows.
