Evacuated Tube Collection in Veterinary Phlebotomy

Using an evacuated tube system requires learners to coordinate the collection needle, holder, and appropriate specimen tube as a single blood collection setup. The BD Vacutainer® One-Use Blood Collection Holder provides the connection between compatible components while allowing collection tubes to be inserted and changed during the procedure.

Blood collection exercises can incorporate holder assembly, venipuncture, tube engagement, order of draw, tube changes, and removal of the collection system. Pairing the holder with different Vacutainer® tubes also reinforces selecting the appropriate specimen container for hematology, coagulation, chemistry, and other veterinary diagnostic testing.
