Weight Charts Don't Predict Neck Size

Two patients at the same weight can have very different neck sizes depending on breed and build, which is why this line sizes by neck circumference rather than a generic small/medium/large chart. Too shallow and a determined patient reaches the site anyway; too deep and eating, drinking, and navigating a hallway get needlessly hard. A longer-nosed dog generally needs more depth than a flat-faced breed at the same neck size to keep a wound or incision out of reach. Most practices keep two or three of the five sizes in stock, since send-home compliance drops fast when the collar sent home doesn't actually fit.
