Two Ports, No Needle, One Less Sharps Risk Per Access
Needle-free valve ports exist to remove a specific, repeatable risk: every time staff access a running IV line to add medication, that's a chance for a needlestick if the access method requires one. A luer-activated valve replaces that step with a simple push-connection, and having two of them on one primary set means multiple intermittent medications can go through the same line over a shift.
Because it's built around Baxter's ClearLink port system, it should be paired with ClearLink-compatible secondary sets and access devices to guarantee the valve mechanism works as intended – mixing port systems from different manufacturers is where compatibility problems tend to show up.
