Redirecting Fluid Without Ever Breaking the Line

The value of a three-way stopcock shows up any time a running IV line needs to do more than one job – continuing a maintenance fluid rate while a bolus or second medication goes in through the side port, for instance, without disconnecting anything or introducing a new point of potential contamination. That third port also works as a controlled access point for blood sampling or line flushing on a patient who's already catheterized, saving a second venipuncture. Boxed at 20 per unit, this is easy to keep stocked at treatment stations and crash carts alike, and it's a useful, low-cost item for teaching multi-line fluid management in a vet tech skills lab.
