VetiSimLab is focused on one thing: helping veterinary educators create better hands-on learning experiences.

We support veterinary schools, veterinary technician and nursing programs, instructors, simulation labs, and other animal healthcare education programs with the training tools and supplies needed to bring clinical concepts to life.

From veterinary simulation trainers and anatomical models to the clinical supplies used during skills practice, our goal is to make it easier for educators to build engaging, realistic learning environments.

Helping Students Turn Knowledge Into Skills

Understanding a procedure and performing one are two different stages of learning.

Students can study anatomy, watch demonstrations, and learn the steps of a procedure, but hands-on practice gives them an opportunity to begin translating that knowledge into technical ability.

Veterinary skills laboratories help make that possible.

Veterinary programs use models, task trainers, simulation, supervised animal experiences, and other teaching methods to help students develop clinical competencies throughout their education.

Simulation can provide an especially useful bridge between learning a concept and applying it to a live patient.

Students can practice a technique, receive feedback, make adjustments, and try again.

Practice With Purpose

Repetition is one of the advantages of a well-designed veterinary simulation experience.

When students are learning a new skill, they may need more than one attempt to become comfortable with the equipment, sequence, positioning, and technique involved.

Simulation creates opportunities for that repetition without requiring every practice attempt to involve a live animal.

It also gives educators greater control over the learning experience.

An instructor can design a session around a specific skill, establish learning objectives, observe performance, provide feedback, and allow students to repeat the exercise.

Simulation is not intended to replace experience with live animals or supervised clinical education.

Instead, it gives students another opportunity to prepare for those experiences.

Supporting the Entire Skills Lab

A veterinary simulation lab requires more than trainers.

Students may practice with many of the same types of supplies and equipment they will encounter throughout their education – from stethoscopes and diagnostic tools to syringes, bandaging materials, IV supplies, PPE, and other clinical essentials.

VetiSimLab brings those pieces together.

Instead of educators sourcing a trainer from one place and all of the supporting supplies from somewhere else, we want to make building and maintaining a veterinary skills lab simpler.

That means thinking beyond individual products and considering how an entire learning experience comes together.

Veterinary students are preparing for a profession with an extraordinary range of patients.

Dogs and cats may be familiar examples, but veterinary education can also encompass horses, cattle, small ruminants, exotic animals, wildlife, and many other species.
